No — with one exception. Georgia's government banned foreign student admissions to all state universities (TSMU, Ilia, Javakhishvili, GTU, Batumi State) for the 2026-27 academic year as part of a "Citizen-First" education reform. However, MedWizard holds a special quota arrangement placing a limited number of foreign-national students into TSMU for September 2026, covering MBBS/MD, American MD, and Dentistry. All private universities remain fully open.

All NMC-approved Georgian universities are recognised by DHA (Dubai), HAAD (Abu Dhabi), SCFHS (Saudi Arabia), QCHP (Qatar) and NHRA (Bahrain). This is what makes Georgia uniquely attractive for GCC-based Indian families — your child can graduate and immediately pursue licensing in the Gulf without returning to India. Georgia requires only NEET qualification — not a specific score. Any student who has appeared and passed NEET is eligible, regardless of their exact percentile or rank. The only other requirement is PCB minimum 50% in Class 12 (40% for reserved categories). There is no score gate. This is significantly different from Ukraine, Russia or Philippines which have higher score requirements.

NEET 2026 Update: The May 3, 2026 exam was cancelled. Re-exam is June 21, 2026. Results are expected the third or fourth week of July. Georgia's September intake deadline is August 2026 — which falls before India's medical counselling even starts. Students who qualify NEET can begin Georgia applications immediately, without waiting for the final merit list.

Tbilisi living costs (verified 2025–26): students spend $300–480/month comfortably on food, transport, and utilities. On-campus or shared hostel rent runs $80–150/month separately. Total annual cost (tuition + accommodation + living) typically comes to $10,000–$15,500/year depending on university and lifestyle. Breakdown: CIU at $6,000 tuition + $1,500 hostel + $3,600 living ≈ $11,100/yr total. TSMU at $8,000 + $3,000 hostel + $3,600 living ≈ $14,600/yr total. IBSU and BAU at $4,800 + $2,500 hostel + $3,600 living ≈ $10,900/yr total. Compare to private medical colleges in India (₹15–25 lakhs/year ≈ $18,000–$30,000) or UK (£35,000+/year ≈ $45,000+).

Tbilisi is one of the safest capital cities in Eastern Europe with extremely low violent crime. For Muslim students: Tbilisi has multiple mosques, halal restaurants throughout the city, and a growing Arab and Muslim student community. The Georgian government actively welcomes international students. Several universities have prayer facilities on campus. Indian student communities are large and well-established (4,221 Georgian students appeared in a single FMGE cycle alone).
