Eligibility & NEET
5 questions
No minimum NEET score is required. You only need to have qualified NEET — any passing score is sufficient. Students who scored 120, 150, 200, or 250 in NEET are all equally eligible for Georgian medical universities. This is one of the most significant advantages Georgia has over MBBS in India, where rank determines your college.

The only academic requirements are:
  • NEET qualification (passed)
  • PCB 50%+ in Class 12 (40% for SC/ST/OBC per NMC guidelines)
Required:
  • Class 12 (10+2) with PCB — minimum 50% (40% for reserved categories)
  • NEET qualification — any passing score
  • Minimum age 17 years at the time of admission
  • Valid passport (minimum 1 year remaining validity)
Not required:
  • IELTS / TOEFL / any English test
  • Entrance exam beyond NEET
  • Interviews (for most universities)
  • Donation / capitation payment
Note: Pakistani nationals face significant visa rejection risk for Georgia and are advised to explore alternative destinations.
Yes. NEET 2026 was held in May 2026. Results are expected in June 2026. Georgian universities accept applications from NEET 2026 qualifiers for the September 2026 intake.

Important timing note: The Georgia intake closes before NEET re-exam results (June 21, 2026). If you appeared in NEET 2026 and are waiting for results, begin the application process now — MedWizard holds provisional admission subject to NEET result confirmation. Waiting until results are out risks missing September 2026 entry entirely. Start your application here.
No. IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or any English language proficiency test is not required for MBBS admission at any NMC-listed Georgian university. All MBBS programs in Georgia are English medium and do not gate admission on formal English certification.

Students from Class 12 English medium backgrounds (including CBSE, ICSE, state boards with English medium) are assumed to meet the language requirement. Unlike Russia, China, or even some European programs, there is no separate English foundation year.
No. NMC India mandates that Indian nationals must have qualified NEET to be eligible for admission to foreign NMC-listed medical universities. This is a regulatory requirement from the Indian side, not the Georgian university side. Without a valid NEET qualifying score, an Indian national cannot enroll at an NMC-listed institution and subsequently appear for FMGE/NExT.

Exception: Non-Indian nationals (UAE residents with non-Indian passports, Arab nationals, others) are not subject to NEET requirements and can apply directly to Georgian universities. GCC residents with Indian passports are subject to NEET.

Fees & Costs
5 questions
All-in 6-year cost: $40,000 – $55,000

Annual breakdown (approximate):
  • Tuition: $6,000–$8,000/year (varies by university)
  • Accommodation: $200–300/month = $2,400–$3,600/year
  • Food: $150–200/month = $1,800–$2,400/year
  • Transport & misc: $70–130/month = $840–$1,560/year
Total per year: $10,500–$13,560
Total 6 years: approximately $40,000–$55,000

Zero donation fees. No hidden charges. Full fee breakdown.
No. This is one of the clearest advantages of Georgia. Georgian universities operate under government-regulated transparent fee structures. There are no:
  • Capitation fees
  • Donation seats
  • Management quota payments
  • Under-the-table fees
The tuition fee listed by the university is the actual tuition fee. Thousands of families have enrolled over the past 10+ years and confirm this consistently. MedWizard does not charge above official university fees — our compensation is from the university side only.
TSMU (Tbilisi State Medical University):
  • MBBS/MD: $8,000/year
  • American MD: $13,500/year
  • Dentistry: $11,000/year
  • Pharmacy: ~$6,000/year
CIU (Caucasus International University):
  • Medicine (MD): $6,000/year
  • Dentistry: $7,000/year
  • Nursing: $3,300/year
University of Georgia:
  • MBBS/BDS: $7,000/year
  • CS/AI/Cybersecurity: $4,000/year
  • Nursing: $3,000/year
  • BBA/MBA: $3,300/year
All above are tuition-only. Living costs are additional (~$5,000–7,000/year).
6-year all-in cost comparison:
  • Georgia: $40,000–$55,000 (no donation, English, European, dual India+GCC recognition)
  • Philippines: $55,000–$75,000 (includes extra pre-med year for Indian students)
  • Russia: $45,000–$65,000 (Russian language requirement, limited GCC recognition, geopolitical risk)
  • Ukraine: Not recommended (active conflict since 2022)
  • India Private Medical College: Rs 80–200 lakhs including donation ($100,000–$250,000 USD equivalent)
Georgia wins on cost when you factor in the pre-med year Philippines requires and the Russian language barrier. Full comparison.
Georgian universities do not typically offer merit-based scholarships for international (Indian/GCC) students in the same way Western universities do. However:
  • Some universities offer partial fee waivers for high-scoring students — ask MedWizard about current offers
  • The Georgian government offers some scholarships for specific categories — these are competitive and limited
  • The low base fee ($6,000–$8,000/year) means Georgia is already significantly more affordable than scholarship-dependent alternatives
For most families, the transparent low-fee structure makes Georgia financially accessible without needing additional scholarships.

Universities & NMC
4 questions
Always verify independently — never rely solely on an agent’s claim. Step-by-step:
  • Go to nmc.org.in
  • Navigate to: Foreign Medical Graduates → Recognised Foreign Medical Institutions
  • Select country: Georgia
  • Search for your university name
  • Confirm the listing and note the “effective from” date
The university must be listed at the time of your enrollment. MedWizard places students only in currently listed institutions and confirms status before processing any application. Full NMC list guide.
TSMU (est. 1918) — Best for: Students targeting American MD, USMLE pathway, or wanting the most established brand name. Highest tuition ($8,000/yr MBBS, $13,500/yr American MD). ECFMG eligible. State university.

CIU (est. 1995) — Best for: Students prioritizing lowest cost. $6,000/year — the most affordable NMC-listed option in Georgia. Strong for Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing. Private university.

University of Georgia (est. 2004) — Best for: Students who want MBBS plus access to CS/AI/Nursing/BBA programs, or siblings enrolling in different programs. $7,000/year for MBBS. Strong international faculty. Private university.

All three are NMC approved and DHA/HAAD/SCFHS recognized. MedWizard partners with all three.
TSMU is NMC-listed. Graduates of the American MD program at TSMU can appear for FMGE/NExT as long as the degree is titled MD and TSMU is on the NMC list at the time of graduation.

Important to confirm before enrolling: Ask TSMU admissions to specify the degree nomenclature on the final certificate. NMC recognizes “MD” or “MBBS” — the curriculum name (American MD) should not affect recognition as long as the degree title matches NMC requirements.

The American MD is primarily designed for the USMLE/USA residency pathway via ECFMG. Many students choose it for the US pathway while retaining the India/GCC option. Confirm specifics with MedWizard.
As of 2025, 12+ Georgian medical universities are listed by NMC India. This is more than any other European country. The list includes:
  • Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU)
  • Caucasus International University (CIU)
  • University of Georgia (UoG)
  • New Vision University (NVU)
  • Georgian-American University (GAU)
  • European University
  • David Tvildiani Medical University (DTMU)
  • Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA / Petre Shotadze)
  • East European University (EEU)
  • Ilia State University
  • Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University
  • Akaki Tsereteli State University
Always verify at nmc.org.in — this list can change annually. Full verified list with fees.

Career — India (FMGE / NExT)
5 questions
FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduates Examination) is a mandatory licensing exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) India. All Indian citizens who:
  • Completed MBBS from a foreign NMC-listed university
  • Enrolled in that university before August 14, 2021
must pass FMGE to obtain NMC registration and practice medicine in India.

Exam structure: 300 MCQs in 150 minutes, pass mark 150/300 (50%). Held twice yearly: January and June. Unlimited attempts. FMGE vs NExT explained.
NExT (National Exit Test) replaces FMGE for students who enrolled in foreign medical universities on or after August 14, 2021.

NExT structure: Two steps — Step 1 (theory, MCQ-based) and Step 2 (clinical skills OSCE-based). Both steps must be passed for NMC registration.

What doesn’t change: You still need to attend an NMC-listed foreign university. The end goal is the same — NMC registration and the right to practice in India. The exam is more comprehensive, testing clinical skills more rigorously than FMGE.
4,221 students who studied in Georgia appeared for FMGE in a single exam cycle — the highest volume from any European country. This is a data point proving the scale of Georgian MBBS graduate output, not a pass rate claim.

The national FMGE pass rate across all foreign graduates is approximately 15–25%. Students from top Georgian universities (TSMU, CIU, UoG) who:
  • Complete their clinical rotations properly
  • Prepare for FMGE specifically with 3–6 months coaching post-graduation
consistently outperform the national average. Preparation quality matters more than which country you studied in.
The 1-year internship conducted at the Georgian university hospital is part of the MBBS degree and is required for graduation. It is accepted by NMC as part of the foreign degree qualification.

However: For State Medical Council registration in India (the step after passing FMGE/NExT), you must also complete a separate 1-year internship at an NMC-recognized hospital in India. This is in addition to the Georgia internship — it is a mandatory requirement of the Indian registration process and cannot be waived.

Total internship years: 1 in Georgia (part of degree) + 1 in India (post-FMGE/NExT, for State Council registration).
Yes, once you complete all NMC requirements:
  • Graduate from NMC-listed Georgian university
  • Pass FMGE or NExT
  • Complete 1-year internship in India
  • Register with State Medical Council
Once registered, you can appear for NEET PG to pursue MD, MS, or Diploma specializations in India — exactly like any Indian MBBS graduate. You compete on equal footing in NEET PG. Your MBBS origin (Georgia vs Indian college) does not affect NEET PG eligibility.

Career — GCC (DHA / HAAD / SCFHS)
4 questions
Yes. Georgia MBBS degrees are independently recognized by DHA (Dubai Health Authority) and DOH (Department of Health Abu Dhabi, formerly HAAD).

This is separate from NMC recognition — GCC licensing authorities maintain their own lists of accepted foreign medical universities. Georgian universities are on both DHA and DOH recognized institution lists.

To practice in Dubai: Pass DHA licensing exam (Prometric-based) after graduation. No FMGE required. No return to India needed. Full DHA/HAAD guide.
Process to work as a doctor in Dubai after Georgia MBBS:
  • Graduate with MD/MBBS from a Georgian university recognized by DHA
  • Apply to DHA with credentials (degree, transcripts, internship certificate, passport, photos)
  • DHA verifies your institution and degree
  • Sit the DHA Prometric licensing exam (specialty-specific MCQ exam)
  • On passing: receive DHA license and work legally in Dubai
No FMGE required. No India internship required. No NMC step needed.

Starting salary in Dubai: AED 18,000–35,000/month for fresh MBBS graduates. Specialists earn significantly more.
Saudi Arabia (SCFHS): Georgian medical universities are recognized by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Graduates sit the Saudi Prometric exam after credential verification. SCFHS registration grants practice rights in Saudi Arabia.

Qatar (QCHP): Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners accepts Georgian degrees. Qatar licensing exam required after graduation.

Kuwait (MOH Kuwait): Ministry of Health Kuwait recognizes Georgian degrees. Kuwait licensing exam required.

Bahrain & Oman: Georgian degrees are generally accepted with relevant licensing exams in each country.

No FMGE required for any GCC country. Each country has its own licensing exam but all accept Georgian degrees.
Yes, via ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) for universities listed by ECFMG. TSMU is ECFMG-eligible.

Process for USA residency pathway:
  • Graduate from ECFMG-eligible Georgian university (TSMU)
  • Pass USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 2 CS (or equivalent)
  • Apply for ECFMG certification
  • Apply for US residency programs via NRMP match
The American MD program at TSMU is specifically designed to prepare students for USMLE. This is a longer pathway (residency match is competitive) but is legally open to Georgian MBBS graduates from eligible institutions.

Student Life & Safety
4 questions
Georgia ranks in the global top 20 safest countries with one of the lowest violent crime rates in the world. Tbilisi is a modern European capital with functioning law enforcement, 24-hour public transport, and no political instability affecting civilians.

For female students specifically: Tbilisi is widely considered safe for women living and traveling alone. University hostels near the medical campuses are well-managed. Many Malayali and South Indian families specifically choose Georgia because daughters report feeling significantly safer than in major Indian cities or Russia. The Indian Students Association and Malayali community provide strong peer support networks.

Indian Embassy in Tbilisi: Active, reachable, and has handled student welfare cases. Emergency contacts are maintained.
Yes to both. Tbilisi has a well-established halal food infrastructure built over 10+ years of Indian and Muslim student presence:
  • Multiple halal restaurants and Indian food joints near all major medical universities
  • Halal butcher shops and grocery stores in student areas
  • Several active mosques in Tbilisi (the Jumah Mosque, a historic mosque, is the most well-known)
  • Diwali, Eid, Onam, and other festivals are celebrated by the student community
Muslim students (including Arab students from GCC, Indian Muslims, Bangladeshi students) report being comfortable with both food availability and religious practice in Georgia. The country has a Muslim minority population (approximately 10%) and is tolerant of religious diversity.
Over 5,000 Indian students study in Tbilisi at any given time — the largest Indian student community in the Caucasus region. This includes:
  • A large and well-organized Malayali community (from Kerala, particularly UAE-based families)
  • Students from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, UP, Karnataka, and other states
  • Active Indian Students Associations at TSMU, CIU, UoG, and other universities
  • Indian-run hostels, food services, and community events
Cultural isolation is not a realistic concern. The community is more active and better organized than Indian communities in Russia, China, or Eastern European MBBS destinations at comparable fee levels.
Monthly living costs in Tbilisi:
  • Accommodation (private room near university): $200–300
  • Food (combination of cooking and eating out): $150–200
  • Transport (metro, bus, occasional taxi): $20–30
  • Phone/internet: $15–20
  • Miscellaneous (toiletries, social, travel): $50–100
Total: $435–650/month

Students managing on $400–500/month is common. Tbilisi is among the most affordable European capitals — cheaper than the Philippines (Manila/Davao), Russia (Moscow/St. Petersburg), or any Western country.

Admission Process
3 questions
Mandatory documents:
  • Class 12 (10+2) marksheet — original and notarized copy
  • Class 12 passing certificate
  • NEET scorecard (qualifying score)
  • Valid passport (minimum 1 year remaining validity)
  • Passport-size photographs (6–8 copies)
  • Medical fitness certificate from a registered doctor
No IELTS, no entrance exam, no interview required.

Documents must be apostilled / attested as required by Georgian immigration. MedWizard handles the full document checklist and submission on your behalf.
Typical timeline from first inquiry to arrival in Georgia:
  • Day 1–3: Submit inquiry, eligibility check by MedWizard
  • Day 3–10: Application submitted to university, provisionally
  • Day 10–21: University offer letter issued
  • Day 21–42: Visa application submitted, visa processed
  • Day 42–56: Visa approved, flight booked, arrival in Georgia
Total: 6–8 weeks from inquiry to arrival

For September 2026 intake, begin now. July–August 2026 is the critical window. Applications submitted after August risk not completing visa processing before September orientation.
MedWizard does not charge students above the official university fee structure. Our compensation is from the university side (referral arrangement) — standard practice for all education consultants globally.

What you pay: Only the official university tuition and application fee as published. No additional “agent fee,” “processing fee,” or “service fee” is charged to students by MedWizard.

This is verifiable: the fee quoted by MedWizard will match the fee on the official university website or offer letter. If any consultant charges you above the university’s listed fee, that is a red flag. Always verify the fee directly with the university before paying.
